Early Birds: 7am - 8:30am
The Early Birds Program provides a smooth and happy early morning transition to the school day for our children. Students who need to begin earlier than 8:30am due to family schedules are cared for in a nurturing and individualized way. Faculty makes a sincere effort to get to know each child very well, thereby providing them with specific early morning opportunities that engage and enrich the children on a daily basis through free play, arts and crafts and cooking. Breakfast is offered between 7:00am and 8:00am each day, and as a cooking activity twice a week; Waffle Wednesdays and Fruity Fridays are especially popular!
Quiet reading transitions the students into listening to a story, playing a game or singing and finger plays. Westbury Friends School is happy to be able to provide this service to our families.
Afternoon Care: 2:40pm - 6:00pm
Afternoon Care brings an exciting and enriching experience to the Extended Day program, beginning at dismissal time at 2:40pm and going through 6:00pm. The foundation of Afternoon Care is a solid childcare program, which includes a variety of creative stations offering many free choices as well as guided activities. Snack, recess and homework support occur every afternoon.
Drama Kids and Crafty Mondays were offered during Afternoon Care for an additional fee beginning in the spring of 2009. Expanded enrichment opportunities presented by specialists are planned for the fall of 2009.
Westbury Friends School is delighted to offer families the opportunity to extend their child's hours in a safe, happy and comfortable environment overseen by competent and caring educators and staff.
