I started in the Fall of 2004, team teaching the fifth and sixth graders with Nancy Staab. I graduated from Binghamton University in 1992 with a Bachelors Degree in Management. I worked for 9 years at Dreyfus Mutual Fund Company. I held many positions there, but I always knew there was something missing. I started doing volunteer work, during my lunch hours, reading to children at Bellvue Hospital in Manhattan through a program called Reach Out and Read. I loved seeing the children's smiling faces, and listening to their reactions when I read to them or asked them questions about the books. From that experience, I knew that I was meant to do something working with children. So, I quit my job at Dreyfus, went back to school full time, and got my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Dowling College in 2003 with a 4.0 GPA. I am proud of my decision to change careers and have never looked back.
My wife Susan and I have two lovely children: Lily and Lora. We live in Wantagh and are very happy. Tired, but happy.
I have many hobbies, interests and (useless?) talents. I enjoy teaching, but I also try to make the classroom a fun place to learn. I have been known to juggle with my juggling pins and tennis balls, play the guitar, the piano, and the harmonica. I also enjoy reading, bicycling, playing beach volleyball (from my days of living in Long Beach), skiing, and working out. However, with two young children, there is not much free time to do most of those things anymore. During the summers, I work as a Division Leader at West Hills Day Camp, in Huntington.
I have had many exciting and memorable experiences in my life. Besides my marriage and the birth of my children, I would have to say the two experiences most worth mentioning are my honeymoon to Thailand, and my first, and only time, skydiving.
It has been an extreme pleasure working at Westbury Friends School over the years and getting to know the caring and supportive faculty, parents, and board members in our school community. I have not only taught here, but I have also learned a great deal from every class that has come through. I look forward to many more years of teaching and learning at Westbury Friends School.
