Linda Wilmot
Nursery Teacher
I have a B.A. in Elementary Education/ English Language Arts from Hunter College and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Michigan. I chose to specialize in the field of early childhood education after seeing how each new day brought the joy of discovery to 3, 4 and 5 year olds. I wanted to share their joy and create an environment that both supported and challenged them. I have been a teacher, parent educator and educational director in federal pre-Head Start and Head Start programs in New York City. I have been teaching at Westbury Friends School in the Nursery for 18 years. Each entering class brings a new year of excitement for both the children and I. Outside of the classroom I enjoy the adventure of world travel. My favorite places thus far have been Southeast Asia and Italy. I love exploring cultures through their culinary traditions...sharing a recipe and a meal brings people together. I love to cook in my kitchen and in my classroom with our nursery students. Cooking is authentic work that teaches cooperation, science, math, pre - reading skills, and enhances small motor coordination. Best of all, the children's culinary creations put a smile on everyone's face! I am blessed with two families; my own family (husband and a grown daughter and son) and my Westbury Friends School family.
