As the Head of Westbury Friends
School, I would like to welcome you to our website. It is a pleasure to
tell you about our school, since it is a place where we provide a strong
educational foundation for the future. We celebrate academics by fostering
in children a love of learning so that they would choose to learn forever.
We find that the joy of learning is a blessing and that it is through this
joy that children thrive. We also understand the importance of challenging
children in an academic environment where the emphasis is on critical
thinking skills as well as emphasizing decision making.
We believe in the importance of the
individual child and as a Quaker school, we follow the testimonies of the
Quaker faith. As a school with children of diverse backgrounds, we do
believe that all people deserve respect for what they hold as important.
We believe in the tenets of helping others and offering to all who attend
our school the knowledge that they are significant and important and what
they have to say matters.
As a Primary School, we provide an
educational program that gives our children the necessary skills to move
on into new school and life settings. Our teachers all hold these beliefs
as well and they model a style of teaching that recognizes the importance
of individual attention and affection.
When you come on to our campus,
you will view a group of lively, enthusiastic children, all engaged and
involved in very many different activities; all of them emphasizing the
love of leaning.
